Imogiri Royal Cemetery

Imogiri is situated about 20 kilometers from Yogya town, where is Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultans buried in this cemetery location. In order to reach the grave we must climb a high ladder before climb the steps, visitors must clearing their body and changing their clothes at the mosque. On the top of ladder steps we will find a gate made from bricks named “Supit Urag”. In this location there are many verandahs where the visitors can wait or take a rest until the gate opened. In the cemetery, the visitors must change their clothes to the custom costume and put their sandals/ shoes as a tribute to the sultans. The Imogiri cemetery is managed by Keraton-Yogya Sultan.
